Character Type – Explore the inclusion of similar character types in two or more of the author’s works. Attempt to identify possible reasons for the character type. Is this an archetypal figure or a version of a member of the author’s life or times? What is the significance of this character? Is it consistent through each work? 2. Literary Techniques – Consider symbol, imagery, allusion, allegory and other relevant observations. 4. Author’s agenda – Does the author have a stated or implied agenda in his or her works? This could be personal, political, social or any variation of agendas. 5. Motif 6. Ask yourself what makes this author’s work significant or meaningful. Has the author created an important body of work? Has the author created a voice for a people, an idea or a time period? What questions does the force the readers to consider about self and the world? 7. In what ways has this author’s work led you to reflect upon your own life and times? Remember, this project is about discovering your own identity and what has created you. Will this author’s work add to your identity, beliefs, thought processes, etc. ?
